What Causes Menopause?
Menopause describes the changes in a woman’s body as they age. More specifically, it marks the point when an individual ceases menstruation (WebMD, 2018). Each woman is born with a specific number of eggs in their ovaries. In order to control the monthly release of eggs and menstruation, the ovaries produce hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone. When eggs no longer are being released, estrogen and progesterone levels drop, and menstruation stops (WebMD, 2018). The menopause process is a completely natural process that every woman goes through with age.
